The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery fired its first public gun salute in 20 months on Monday to mark the Prince of Wales' 73rd birthday.

Personnel fired a 41 Gun Salute from six guns in Green Park, London.

COVID-19 meant the personnel could not fire full Royal Salutes in Royal Parks or in front of the general public for nearly two years.

The pandemic forced all duties, such as the coronation salute and the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral, to be conducted behind closed doors.

For many Gunners and horses from both the King's Troop and the Honourable Artillery Company, it was their first test of public scrutiny in the Royal Parks.

A Gun Salute marking Prince Charles' birthday also took place at Edinburgh Castle and the Tower of London, as well as other locations.
