Three Sun Prairie men are facing drug and gun charges in separate cases following federal grand jury indictments issued Wednesday, Nov. 17.


Carlos Carter, 32, is charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute and possessing loaded firearms in that drug trafficking crime. The indictment alleges that Carter possessed cocaine, two 9 mm pistols and a .44 caliber revolver on March 8, 2020.


Daniel Gibbs, 36, was charged in a separate case with three counts of distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The indictment alleges that he distributed the methamphetamine on Aug. 26, Sept. 15 and Sept. 28, 2021.

In a separate case. Derrick Shelton, 30, is charged with two counts of distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The indictment alleges Shelton distributed methamphetamine on Oct. 4 and Oct 19, 2021. 

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Madison Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol worked on the investigation of Shelton.


The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the Carter and Gibbs cases.
